Years ago I did a interview for a website called Strut Your Reel. It was a great site for the animation community, it actually put faces onto some of your favorite shots in animated films. I miss not having it around anymore, it was one of those sites I visited daily as I waited for my animation to playblast.
So when Tim Linklater asked if I would be interested in doing a video interview for his new site, Pencil Kings, I didn't hesitate. Looking at the finished product and the new site, I'm really happy to be part of it. It's even on a higher level then Strut.

Thanks Tim!

Hi, Aaron, I also missed the strutyourreel.com very much because followed the post since the beginning of strut site. I also translated those interviews into chinese, including yours, mike thurmeier, doug bennett, john goodman, cameron miyasaki etc. That's around 2004~2006. Time really flies! The purpose I translated those articles is to introduce the top animators around the world, during that period I also helped to run a web site called: cghelp.com.cn(no more already after 2006, which is a pity). Thanks for your introduction of Tim's new site. It really looks better! Congrats for his coming back!

Hey Aaron.
ReplyDeleteYour story is so inspiring every time I hear it. Honestly, it's hearing your story that reminds me that I have time before I have to start getting too worried about not making it yet. I was really disappointed when it didn't work out right out the gate from college, but I'm only 23 and I'm working in previs in LA, so the dream of being a feature film animator isn't too far off(I hope).
